Technology

Dr. Singh is committed to incorporating the latest in dental technology for the safety, effciency and comfort of her patients and staff. This helps us in providing a relaxing and painless dental expereince to our patients. Below is just some of the cutting edge technology we have implemented in our office.

Itero Digital Impressions

Gone are the days of using conventional molds which are awkward and uncomfortable causing the patient to gag and leaving behind a bad taste. Our office has invested in the latest in digital impression technology, the iTero Element digital impression scanner, currently the best available scanner in the world. The iTero technology makes taking impressions simple, fast, easy and most importantly pain, chemical and gag free!

This innovative technology uses optical scanning to digitally capture the surface and contours of the teeth and gums.

The entire process takes less than five minutes, the time needed for conventional dental impression material to set.

One of the most impressive features of the iTero digital dental impression technology is that it produces real-time images that show on the computer screen. Our doctors and the patient can simultaneously visualize the treatment area in 360 degrees, allowing them to communicate more effectively. Additionally, the scan is saved forever in your patient records and can be emailed to you. Subsequent scans can provide an insight to changing bite, shifting of teeth, wear facets, and/or receeding gums in a clearly understandable time lapse video.

iTero and Invisalign

Dr. Singh is a certified Invisalign provider since 2006. The iTero technology is exclusively linked to the Invisalign software. This allows Dr. Singh to design more precise Invisalign treatment and improve patient comfort during the impressions phase. The iTero Invisalign partnership has also created a treatment simulator so that patients can visualize what the results of their Invisalign treatment will look like within seconds after the scan is done. They can see their before and after smile side by side on the screen making it easy for them to understand their treatment.

CAD CAM Same-Day Crowns

The process of crowning a tooth starts out the same way, whether it’s a same-day crown or traditional crown: with “preparation” of the tooth. This involves removing any decay that’s present, and shaping the tooth so that it will fit perfectly inside the crown. But the similarities end there.

If you were getting a traditional crown, you would go home with a temporary crown until your permanent crown comes back from the lab. This typically takes two weeks and you have to make a second appointment.

With a same-day crown, we will simply use a small scanning wand attached to a computer to take digital pictures inside your mouth. In seconds, the computer will generate a highly accurate 3D model of your teeth. Dr. Singh will then design your crown using her state of the art dental software. From this design, the CAD CAM mills your custom crown within 45 minutes. The crown is placed into your mouth permanently on the same day saving you the hassle of a temporary crown and a second visit.

Digital Nitrous: Oculus

Dr. Singh is keen on looking at how new technology can be incorporated into the dental industry. With the addition of Oculus VR technology in our office we can offer an alternative to traditional nitrous for those patients with dental anxiety. Oculus VR offers an immersive digital entertainment experience which helps the patient relax and entertained during their dental procedure.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Nitrous oxide is a gas, and is commonly known as happy gas or laughing gas. Giving nitrous oxide is a way to help reduce a patients pain and anxiety during dental treatment. The gas is given through a small nosepiece, and you will be awake throughout the procedure. Patients usually recover within five minutes from the effects of the gas after their dental treatment has been completed.

Microscopic Saliva Analysis

Our trained hygienist will take a sample of your plaque on a microscopic slide prior to your cleaning. The doctor will then evaluate the kind of bacteria present in your plaque, microscopically, which the patient is able to view on a large monitor. Just like the gut, oral bacteria can be good and bad. The doctor will discuss the findings and advise on simple ways to populate healthy bacteria in your mouth that you can do at home. Healthy oral bacteria can significantly reduce the risk of diseases related with inflammation such as diabetes, dementia, cardio vascular accidents and even stroke.

Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays allow us to capture clear and precise images of the patient’s mouth for a more complete and accurate diagnosis. Images are captured in an instant, making the process more comfortable for patients compared to traditional film x-rays.

One of the biggest advantages to digital dental x-rays compared to traditional technology is the fact that they expose patients to 90% less radiation.

Combined with the fact that the image is taken in fractions of a second, patients can be confident that their exposure is extremely low.

In addition, digital x-rays can be shared instantly with other dentists, specialists and physicians around the world for the highest level of patient care and communication.

Dr. Singh is very concerned about the environment and preserving it for future generations. Digital dental x-rays don’t require chemicals to develop images unlike conventional x-rays.
